My specialism is neurodiversity, and many of my clients have complex neuro-developmental conditions. I provide services to children, families, teens and adults who each have their own unique set of emotional, sensory, movement, physical, cognitive and learning challenges which affect their participation and performance in everyday activities at home, school, college or work. I provide a range of services for parents, too.
My clients are often remarkable, talented, determined and aspirational individuals. They have valuable, creative and ‘out of the box’ thinking styles that enrich our wider neurotypical world.
A flexible range of appointments and services are available to help achieve what you are looking for from Occupational Therapy. Whether you are interested in monitoring, an assessment, a short term intervention, or longer term therapy involvement I will be pleased to see if I can help. I use the best available evidence to inform my practice and work hard to keep abreast of new initiatives and developments in the field.
If you are new to using independent services, the starting point is usually an assessment. I undertake a wide range of formal and informal assessments, depending on your needs. All services are available by appointment only.
If you are seeking therapy, this can be tailored to meet your budget and your goals. The purpose of a therapy programme is to assist the client to increase and develop their current functional skills and abilities, achieve and maintain valued roles, and perform the tasks that they want to, and need, as part of an enjoyable, fulfilled and satisfying life.
My therapy programmes are underpinned by the principles of ‘neuroplasticity’ – the brain’s ability to re-organise itself through changes in neural connections and networks in response to new information, sensory stimulation and development through ‘just right’ challenges and opportunities.
Working together, we take a step by step approach to finding strategies and practical solutions to help with the challenges and difficulties you or your child face. We also look out for and celebrate the successes and achievements – no matter how small!
